Reborning Process

This is the tedious process which all of my babies go through.

Every artist differs in their preferred method.

I use realistic soft-skin vinyl baby dolls/kits produced by companies like Berenguer, Ashton Drake and other new popular doll artists.

The reborn/newborn process creates a true-to-life highly collectible heirloom 'forever baby.

Here at the Nursery each and every baby is given my full attention.

I never work on more than one doll at a time.

This allows me to remain focused on the personality that is developing in each doll that I am creating.

I personally put a lot of tender care and love into each of these dolls and spend many, many hours on each one. I use quality products and professional tools to create the look for each one. Each doll has their own personality.

All factory paint is removed from the vinyl. The baby is then given a warm bath in Johnson's baby bath.

I use Genesis Heat Set Paint. This paint was heat set so it is permanent and will not rub, peel, flake or fade off.

Skin tones are painted in many layers to achieve true skin colors.

We add subtle veining, translucent blue tones where skin would be thinner, around the eyes, behind the ears, under the chin.....

Between each layer, the painted parts are put in the oven to set the paint.

Our painting techniques vary depending on whether the baby will have a peaches and cream complexion of an older baby, or a mottled rudy newborn look. All of the creases and rolls are carfully blushed and shaded.

The baby begins to come alive at this phase, Its going to be a boy or girl.

I gently opened to make the baby a breather and painted to appear moist. Everything was then backed with dark felt for depth.

Eyebrows, barely there, are painted or hand rooted.

Lips are detailed with a light natural shade ever so delicate; sealed to appear a bit moist looking.

All fingers and toes are given a fresh baby manicure that is applied in thin layers and then sealed three times so that the paint will never chip or peel off.

If the baby has opened eyes, we choose realistic looking eyes and apply or hand root eyeslashes.

Sleeping babies have hand rooted eyelashes to match their hair.

Like the hair, they are sealed to make them secure.

Some babies have magnets inserted for magnetic hair bows or pacificiers .

Hair is either hand rooted and sealed from the inside or wigged using premium high quality mo-hair that is so soft and realistic looking on all of the babies.

Once I am satisfied that each baby has the perfect head of hair, I seal the hair inside the head with a strong silicone glue so that the baby's hair can be gently washed, conditioned and styled by his new parents. The hair is then cut into a style that perfectly fits that baby's face and personality!

All of the baby's head on the inside is cover with purple Felt backing is added to give the depth look.

Most babies are given custom made cloth bodies of doe suede that allow them to feel like a real baby and move like a real baby!

Some baby is put back together with all original parts and does not come with a soft body, but instead his or her original vinyl body.

Some are given removable chest/belly and tummy/back plates that allow for more fun posing.

I giving them their a new body and then lovingly stuff and weight them with plastic pellets, sterile colored art sand, pellets and polyfill.

The heads are weighted and have unbelieveable realistic movement just as a newborn.

The arms and legs are poseable and are weighted with purple art sand for a more realistic and evenly distributed weight. Each of my baby's feel so wonderful to carry.

They conform to your arms and cuddle to your shoulder.

You will never want to put my babies down!

Some of my babies have strong earth magnets placed in their heads so that they can accept the magnetic pacifiers and hair bows they come with.

These magnets are strong and may interfere or damage items that are affected by magnets, such as pacemakers or computers.

The magnets in the head can be removed at the request of a new parent.

Baby is sent home with:

Birth certificate with a picture

footprints,

outfit,

bottle,

pacifier,

toy,

diaper,

care instructions,

blanket to keep baby warm.

No baby is allowed to leave my nursery unless I am 100% satisfied with him or her.

All babies come from a smoke and pet free nursery.

All babies are packed with care and attention to detail, making them ready to present as a gift to yourself or to someone special in your life.
